Beautiful Gardens for a healthy planet

Garden Services for the Cambridge area

Hello, my name is Camila and at Bōterra my aim is to create and care for gardens that you love to spend time in, look out on, and enjoy throughout the year.

Whether you’re looking for ongoing maintenance, gardening coaching, new planting, thoughtful design or practical horticultural advice, I shape my work around your garden and your needs.

I bring together horticultural expertise, an eye for colour and form, and sustainable practices that keep your plants thriving year after year — without costing the earth.

Services

  • Regular care keeps a garden healthy, balanced, and beautiful throughout the seasons. I can help with all aspects of maintenance, including weeding, pruning, deadheading, and cutting back perennials to encourage fresh growth. I also take care of planting — from bulbs and annuals to shrubs and small trees — along with soil preparation, mulching, and organic feeding. Climbers can be staked, tied in, or trained as needed, and I keep a close eye out for pests or disease, using natural treatments where required.

  • If you’d like to learn how to care for your own garden but aren’t sure where to start, I offer hands-on garden coaching — gardening alongside you and showing what to do, how to do it, and when. Together we can build your confidence, deepen your understanding of your plants, and help you get the most out of your space. Over time, you’ll learn the practical skills and seasonal know-how to look after your garden with ease and enjoyment.

  • This service is about bringing new life to your garden — whether that means refreshing tired borders, introducing seasonal colour, or starting from scratch. I’ll work with you to plan planting schemes that suit your style, the character of your space, and the conditions of your garden. From soil preparation and plant selection to layout and planting, I create gardens that are beautiful, sustainable, and designed to thrive long into the future.

  • I can source materials (e.g., mulch, compost, plants, garden sundries) on your behalf.

Materials will be charged at cost price plus a sourcing fee of 15% to cover time and transport.

    • Large-scale garden clearances

    • Tree surgery or major tree works

    • Work at height without appropriate safety equipment (such as a cherry picker, scaffolding, or a suitable tripod ladder provided by the client)

    • Use of chemical sprays or weedkillers

  • Garden maintenance: £30 per hour

    Garden coaching: £40 per hour

Planting plan and creation (such as planting schemes, design work, or landscaping) are quoted separately and priced per job.

  • I work between the hours of 9.30am to 3.00pm, Monday to Thursday and mostly only in school term time, although exceptions can be made for specific projects and over the long summer holidays.

Please ensure there’s suitable parking for the duration of each visit and access to a green waste bin for routine garden waste.
If extra waste is generated beyond bin capacity, I can remove a small amount myself (up to three 40ltr tubs)

I use natural, chemical-free methods in all my work.
If you’d like me to source materials such as plants, compost, or mulch, these will be charged at cost price plus a 15% sourcing fee to cover time and transport.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 48 hours’ notice.
Cancellations made with less notice may be charged at 50% of the agreed fee.

I take great care while working in your garden and handle all plants and materials with professionalism and respect. However, I cannot accept responsibility for damage arising from pre-existing conditions, adverse weather, or other circumstances beyond my control. A small proportion of plant loss (approximately 5%) may occur after planting despite best practices.

Please ensure that the garden is safe to access and free from hazards, and that pets are secured during visits.

A full set of Terms & Conditions will be shared when you book a job.

About Bōterra

I founded Bōterra to share my love of gardens and to help others find happiness in theirs. I am RHS-trained in both practical and theoretical horticulture, as well as in garden design, having studied with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, Writtle at King’s College Cambridge, and Capel Manor in London. I am also a registered member of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture.

Before moving into horticulture full-time, I spent 25 years working in philanthropy and fundraising for international wildlife conservation. Over the past five years, I have combined that career with part-time work in garden design, creation, and maintenance. This year, I took the step to establish myself as a sole trader under the name Bōterra, working full-time as a gardener and horticultural adviser.

My approach begins with understanding how you, the client, would like your garden to look, feel, and function — and realising that vision in the most ecological way possible. I avoid the use of chemicals, instead designing gardens that encourage natural balance and resilience, helping plants to thrive in good health.

City gardens are of particular interest to me, as each one — shaped by its owner’s tastes and interests — forms part of a greater tapestry of green spaces connected across fences and walls. Together, they create vital corridors that cool our cities, filter our air, and provide refuge for wildlife, pollinators, and birds. If we care for our gardens in ways that make them both beautiful and beneficial to nature, our private green spaces can become the sanctuaries we need for our own wellbeing — and help make our cities healthier, happier places to live amid the stone and concrete.
